A Fotonovela – When One Door Closes, Another Opens

PRO PLAYER FOUNDATION LAUNCHES FOTONOVELA, WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES, ANOTHER OPENS

Pro Player Foundation is proud to announce a Fotonovela detailing the life and story of Pro Player Ambassador Tyler Campbell as he faced and embraced his Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. The Fotonovela is designed to spread information and resources to underserved communities in a creative and unique format.

WHO & WHAT

Pro Player Foundation is proud to announce the second pillar of our Educate.Elevate.Collaborate. Initiative: the Fotonovela. The Fotonovela serves as a vehicle to engage the community while sharing important Multiple Sclerosis information. Disseminated in both English and Spanish, the goal of the Fotonovela is to build a line of communication in a non-traditional manner. The story portrays that of Tyler Campbell, the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Earl Campbell, and how he adapted to his MS diagnosis in the midst of chasing his dreams of playing in the National Football League. We are grateful for our MVP Sponsors, Biogen and Bristol Myers Squibb, our Tailgate sponsors, Sanofi Genzyme and Genentech, and our media sponsor, the Austin Radio Network for being our Media Partner and Unsung Heroes Marc Carlson & Jacqueline Dupont Carlson. Pro Player Foundation believes we can help bridge the information gap and be a powerful voice in reaching underrepresented communities. On behalf of the Pro Player Foundation, we also are thankful the Educate. Elevate. Collaborate. Initiative has been made possible from a generous grant from Genentech.

The Educate.Elevate.Collaborate. Initiative includes three pillars: a social media campaign, a Fotonovela and a live streamed collaborative panel with experts on living with Multiple Sclerosis. The Social Media Campaign serves as the voice of the Educate. Elevate. Collaborate. Initiative. Our goal is to communicate creative and personal content to engage minority communities to inform and raise awareness around Multiple Sclerosis. We share key messages from our roster of players via our collective social media platforms. The third pillar is a Pro Player Foundation Collaborative, a live streamed Virtual Panel slated for Thursday, July 29 designed to illuminate and amplify issues the Multiple Sclerosis community faces. Tyler Campbell, a prolific speaker, will moderate the kick-off Collaborative and share his Multiple Sclerosis journey. The panel will include Multiple Sclerosis healthcare experts and a current Multiple Sclerosis patient as they bring to light their experiences fighting against MS and sharing resources in the battle to put an end to the disease.

WHY

Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2007 while playing football at San Diego State University, Tyler Campbell refuses to let the disease stop him from moving his life forward. A successful businessman, husband and father, Tyler views his diagnosis as a blessing, stating, “I now have the opportunity to share my experience to help others living with this disease and make an impact on the MS community.” Tyler, a long-time Austinite, now serves as an MS Ambassador for Pro Player Foundation and the National MS Society and is on a mission to help other people with the disease, especially those facing the uncertainty of the future of their education due to MS. The Pro Player Foundation has adopted Tyler’s mission and aspirations to completely put an end to Multiple Sclerosis forever. Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. The mission of Pro Player Foundation is to address the needs of underserved children by raising dollars and awareness through special events and programs. Pro Player Foundation partners with athletes to achieve philanthropic and community needs, and we believe there is nothing we cannot achieve when we unite and work together.
